London Irish got their European campaign off to an emphatic start with a 78-3 win over Rovigo as the two sides met in their European Challenge Cup opener on Saturday afternoon.
The Madjeski Stadium faithful would no doubt have arrived expecting a full bag of points but even they would have been surprised with the ease with which their team claimed the win.
Twelve tries in all, including two a piece for Elvis Seveali’I and substitute Peter Richards, filled the afternoon with attacking action.
The home side were also awarded a penalty try during the afternoon while all the Italisn side had to show for there days work was a single Stefan Basson penalty kick.
Shane Geraghty also got himself on the scoresheet after coming on to the field and, with his fitness improving every week, he will no doubt be pushing coach Toby Booth for a starting spot sooner rather than later
