Newcastle Falcons cruised to a 63-0 win over El Savador as the two teams met at Kingston Park in Saturday's European Challenge Cup evening kick-off.

The match was ultimately a mis-match and was already done and dusted after three first half tries from Phil Dowson's men.

While they were never really at their best in the opening forty minutes the Falcons were already so very comfortable when the whistle went for the break.

Steve Jones got the ball rolling for the home side in the sixth minute when he went over as Newcastle threatened to demolish the Spanish side for a second year running.

El Salvador though showed some spirit and the Guinness Permiership side scored only two more tried before the half time break.

England international Jamie Noon got his try inwith 20 minutes gone before inside centre Tom May made it three with his 26th minute effort.

Flyhalf Rory Clegg converted all three and, while they were certainly not playing to their full potential, the English side were incredibly comfortable at half time with a 21-0 lead.

Just seven minutes into the second half then the home side had another two scored on the board. Flank Ed Williamson crashed over just after the break and secured the try-scoring bonus point before replacement hooker Andy Long then went over for try number five.

Tim Visser, Tim Swinson and captain Phil Dowson all added their names to the scoresheet during the second half while referee _____ is awarded the home said a penalty try just for good measure.

Flyhalf Clegg enjoyed a flawless night with the boot, slotting nine from nine as the Falcons cruised to the expected victory.

A slow start but eventually a professional job by Dowson and co. There will no doubt be tougher tasks ahead but with step one satisfactorily negociated they can now turn theior attention to what lies ahead.
