The Saints camp have been celebrating their historic 30-24 LV= Cup Final win over Gloucester at Sixways on Sunday and are understandably 'delighted' with the win.
It was one that guaranteed the Saints a place in next season's Heineken Cup and the third season in a row where they have won a trophy since Jim Mallinder took over in 2007.
Despite all the positives that came out of the win at Sixways however, it was simply securing the victory that proved most pleasing to the Saints Director of Rugby, who also paid tribute to the way the game was played.
"The most satisfying thing was getting the win. Without a doubt. In this competition we try and put out our strongest team every time and we have won in every round. We set out that we wanted to win something at the start of the season and now we've done that.
"It's a cup final and you're always going to be a bit nervous, but Gloucester came out to play rugby and so did we. I think both sides did just that and it's what cup finals are all about. We're delighted to have won.
"It's no good just being in three competitions if you don't win anything, so at least we have won something now and we can tick that one off and move on."
The Saints outscored Gloucester by three tries to two, one of those scored by LV= man of the match Soane Tonga'uiha.
The Tongan prop also had a hand in Lee Dickson's score and expressed his delight at the victory. He also reflected on the nearly breakaway try of the season.
"My mind was telling me to keep going but my legs were saying no so I had to look for help!
"It's an amazing feeling to win, really awesome. At the start of the season we set ourselves targets and we've pulled one off, so there's just two to go. It's an unbelievable feeling, the Wanderers had a great win here on Monday too so it was just a whole squad effort."
