All Black Jack out for season

Tue, 25 Mar 2008 22:04

All Black lock Chris Jack has been ruled out of the remainder of the Northern Hemisphere season with the hand injury he sustained playing for Saracens in their (3-30) EDF Energy Cup semifinal defeat against the Ospreys last weekend.

Jack suffered tendon damage after falling during the encounter the Millennium Stadium and required surgery.

The 29-year-old second row will miss the English club side's Heineken Cup quarterfinal against the Ospreys on April 6 and the rest of the Guinness Premiership campaign.

"It's a blow for the club and more importantly for Chris, who has quickly settled in England," said Saracens director of rugby Alan Gaffney.

"He has been producing some very good performances for us, but it's something that we have to deal with," the Australian added.

"Even though he won't be able to get out on the pitch, with his knowledge and experience he still has a very important role to play for us."
