Dupuy joins the rush to sign at Tigers

Wed, 16 Jul 2008 22:57

The rush to join new coach Heyneke Meyer continues as scrumhalf Julien Dupuy complete a move from Biarritz in France to join up with Springbok flyhalf Derick Hougaard at Welford Road.

A goal-kicking scrumhalf, the 24-year-old Dupuy has gained Heineken Cup experience in the last four seasons with Biarritz, including the Final of 2006 against Munster at the Millennium Stadium.

He was also a Top 14 championship winner in 2005 and 2006.

"This will be a big change for me after so long with Biarritz, but I know Leicester Tigers is a massive club," said Dupuy.

"I am very happy to sign for Leicester and I am looking forward to starting the pre-season work there and experiencing rugby in England."

Dupuy will contest the Tigers No.9 shirt with England international Harry Ellis and England Under-20 cap Ben Youngs.
