Claassens: 'Why I'm staying at Bath'

Sun, 24 Aug 2008 22:45

South African scrumhalf Michael Claassens said signing a two-year extension to his Bath contract wasn't a difficult decision.

Claassens, widely recognised as one of the Guinness Premiership's most influential signings last season, has committed himself to the club until the end of the 2010/11 season.

"It wasn't a difficult decision to make because I had a great season here last year and I'm confident the club is setting itself up to chaive a great deal over the next few years," said the 25-year-old Springbok.

"My wife and I love it here in Bath and I am enjoying my rugby in a squad which has enormous potential.

"When the club approached me for talks over an extension to my contract, I had no hesitation in signing it.

"I hope they can persuade Butch James to stay on too beyond the end of this season."

He is just deflecting attention away from his lack of coaching knowledge
He should leaves his sermons for the dressing room
