Namibian World Cup and former Boland Cavaliers prop Jané du Toit may have to wait a while longer before making his much anticipated debut for Plymouth Albion in the English National Division One competition.
The Brickfields club travel to Meadow Lane on Sunday to take on Nottingham, but the 32-year-old Namibian's registration may not come through in time to be considered for the game.
However, if he is not included in Sunday's squad he could turn out for the club's development team – the Westcountry Warriors – who play Torquay at the Recreation Ground on Saturday.
Albion's Chairman Graham Dawe did not name him in either the first team or the development squad.
"He could possibly play a part at Nottingham, but it depends if the RFU [Rugby Football Union of England] register him in time and on injuries," Dowe told the Plymouth-based Herald newspaper.
It is likely, though, the Namibian World Cup player will be given time to settle into the club.
The Windhoek-born prop met his new teammates for the first time on Thursday, having only arrived in Plymouth a couple of hours earlier.
Du Toit, who made his first class debut for Western Province in 1999, also played for the Border Bulldogs, Griquas, Boland Cavaliers and last year for Namibia in the World Cup in France.
