Hill: 'We will win some matches'

Thu, 02 Oct 2008 09:27

Despite another defeat on Wednesday night at the Memorial Stadium, Bristol boss Richard Hill says his side are still playing well enough to give him great encouragement.

Bristol have just two points from their opening five games in the new Guinness Premiership season and, in truth, were comfortably beaten by Saracens in their midweek encounter.

Hill, though, remains positive and insists that his side are in fact playing better than their results have shown, believing that things could very easily have been different.

"If we were playing terribly, you would have to worry," said Hill.

"Obviously we are disappointed to lose, but we played some very good rugby and it might have been different had a couple of kicks gone over.

"If we keep playing like that then we will win some matches."

Kiwi flyhalf Glenn Jackson scored 18 points for the visitors as they improved their record to three wins in five games and coach Eddie Jones was obviously pleased with another landmark win for his Saracens side.

"A lot of our boys have never won at Bristol before," he said.

"It was scratchy, but we showed a bit of grit and you have got to win those sort of games.

"A win down here is a good result, and I thought that Glen Jackson's control of the game was pretty good once again."
