Cipriani looking for Wasps commitment

Thu, 04 Dec 2008 12:14

With his contract out in the summer Danny Cipriani has signalled his intentions to stay at the London Wasps but has also warned the club that he would like to see some real statements of intent on their side before the deal in completed.

Cipriani, who recently returned form a disappointing November Test series with England, is already reportedly attracting interest from a number of big speding Premiership clubs, as well as ‘salary-cap-less’ teams from the French Top 14.

With the club having struggled so far this season the new hierachy, with new owner Steve Hayes and boardroom member Lawrence Dallaglio in place, are quickly setting about trying to reorganise the club and securing the contract of Cipriani would be an important first step.

With fellow young star James Haskell also out of contract in July Cipriani confirmed his commitment to the Wasps team but asked that they quickly show everyone how committed they are to keeping the best players at the club and also to continuing to improve the club as a whole.

"I would like to stay at Wasps and have my future here. I've just got to know about the players who are going to stay as well," he said.

"You want to make sure you have all the young players and you have all the talented players coming through together and staying on. I think Steve is going to try and get all the contracts done as a whole team . . . The key is to keep this squad together that has been successful."

What do you think of this? Should Cipriani be making demands at the moment?
