England recall motivating fit-again Perry

Thu, 04 Dec 2008 15:42

Bristol scrumhalf Shaun Perry says he is determined to force his way back into England contention after a disappointing year ridden with injuries.

The powerful No.9 has made a hug impact for his club side since returning from injury midway through November and now, as he approaches full fitness, is committed to try and make an impression on England manager Martin Johnson.

Speaking to BBC Radio Bristol he said: "I have been unfortunate with injury in the past year but I am back playing now.

"I have only just turned 30. Hopefully, if I can put in a string of good performances and stay injury free, then I will be knocking on the door."

With Danny Care now looking as the first choice scrumhalf for England Perry will first have to compete with the like of Harry Ellis, Andy Gomarsall and Richard Wigglesworth for a place in the squad and then see what opportunities come his way.

Does he have a chance to add to his 14 test caps? Who would your first choice No.9 be?
