Richard Hill looks set to take control of French Federal League 1 side Chalon-sur-Saone after reportedly signing a two-year deal with the club.
Hill, a former Gloucester, Newport and Harlequins coach, left Bristol towards the end of the recent Guinness Premiership season after a disappointing run of results and has been without employment since.
The ex-England scrumhalf spent six years at the Memorial Stadium, guiding them to the Premiership in 2005 and there best ever top flight finish, third place, in 2007.
Bristol was relegated at the end of the recent season with Leeds Carnegie having won promotion to the Guinness Premiership.
