Newcastle Falcons has confirmed pre-season friendlies against Ulster and Edinburgh, as the club looks to hit the ground running for the 2009/10 Guinness Premiership campaign.
The Falcons travel to Ulster's Ravenhill ground in Belfast for the first outing of their new-look team, on the evening of Friday August 21.
This will then be followed up on Friday August 28 with the visit of Magners League runners-up Edinburgh, whose squad includes a host of Scotland internationals as well as Falcons old boys Phil Godman, Tim Visser, Craig Hamilton, Steve Jones and Ross Samson.
Falcons season ticket holders will gain free entry to this game as part of their package. Match-day prices for non season ticket holders will be announced in due course.
Newcastle will again take part in the Middlesex Sevens at Twickenham on Saturday August 15, whilst the Falcons Development Team has friendlies against Scottish side Watsonians at Druid Park on Sunday August 23, and at neighbours Tynedale in Corbridge on Saturday August 29.
Falcons director of rugby, Steve Bates, said: "Quality match action is an absolutely essential ingredient in our preparation for the new season.
"Ulster and Edinburgh will both provide a thorough examination of our squad, and I am sure there will be plenty of interest in the Edinburgh match with the old cross-border rivalry and so many familiar faces in opposition."
