Northampton Saints have bolstered their playing resources, yet again, with confirmation that Stuart Friswell has joined the club for the 2008/09 Guinness Premiership season.
Friswell, a 25-year-old hooker, arrives at Franklin’s Gardens after a two-year stint at his home-town club Coventry.
He is a graduate of the Leicester Tigers Academy and won England Under-21 honours at the 2004 International Rugby Board (IRB) World Championships. Before joining Coventry Friswell played for Plymouth Albion and he played against the Saints in National League One last season.
"In the Premiership you need a squad made up of players who have talent and commitment," said Saints Director of Rugby Jim Mallinder.
"Stuart is a good young English hooker who adds strength in depth in a position where you cannot have too much cover. He has a good background in the game and impressed us by his effort playing against us last season.
"It was a pleasant surprise getting the call from Dorian so close to the pre-season and I was more than happy to accept the challenge at the Saints," said Friswell.
"It is a massive club with a huge season ahead in the Premiership and I am relishing meeting the challenges ahead.
"The pre-season has been very intense and tough compared to what I've been used to. But it’s been good and with a good bunch of lads. There is plenty of competition but hopefully I can edge my way in and see what happens!"
