Abraham the Tiger now a Shark

Tue, 06 May 2008 22:57

Sale Sharks has announced that it has concluded the signing of 24-year-old back row forward Luke Abraham on a two year contract.

Sale Sharks CEO James Jennings said: "I am delighted to be able to announce that Luke Abraham will join Sale Sharks at the start of next season.

"Luke is a powerful and dynamic player who will strengthen our back row. He joins us from Leicester Tigers where he played an important role in Tigers double-winning campaign in the 2006/2007 season."

Sale Sharks Director of Rugby Philippe Saint Andre said: "I am pleased that Luke is joining Sale Sharks. He is a very good, young English player who I have been impressed with when he has played against us. I am sure he will be a very good addition to my squad for next season."

Abraham was predictably ecstatic about the move.

"I am delighted to have signed for Sale Sharks and am looking forward to a new challenge at a new club," he said.

"I know that Sale Sharks is a very ambitious club and that Philippe Saint Andre and Kingsley Jones are determined to achieve further success.

"I felt it was the right time to move and I look forward to meeting the Sale Sharks squad in pre-season training. I have enjoyed my time at Leicester Tigers and thank staff, players and supporters for everything they have done in my career to date."
