French feast on Sharks' menu

Mon, 23 Jun 2008 17:01

Sale Sharks will be taking part in the Challenge Vaquerin during August as part of their pre-season preparations.

The two-match tour will see them take on French clubs Perpignan and Montpellier.

Sharks Director of Rugby Philippe Saint Andre said both games will be "tough" fixtures, but he was confident they were up for the challenge.

"It will help us assess where we are up to," the Sale boss said.

"The competition will also give chances to younger members of the squad to fight for a first team place.

"Pre-season training started last week and it was good to see the players back, looking forward to the new season. The internationals will now have a break and will rejoin us in August."

Sale Sharks tour:
August 6:
v Perpignan, St Afrique (Kick-off TBC)
August 9: v Montpellier, Camares  (Kick-off TBC)
