European final goes 3D

Wed, 12 May 2010 15:37

The landmark 15th Heineken Cup final will break more new ground - the all-French match between Biarritz Olympique and Toulouse at Stade de France on Saturday, 22 May, will be shown live in 3D in selected French cinemas.

France Televisions will manage all aspects of the production enabling fans unable to get to the showpiece match the chance to see the action as it happens.

"This is an extremely exciting advance and development for our tournament and will bring our prestigious 15th tournament final to an even wider audience," said ERC Chief Executive Derek McGrath.

"It is entirely appropriate that the first Heineken Cup match to be shown in 3D in cinemas should be the final and we look forward to the tournament successfully crossing this new technological frontier."
