Toulouse leave out Heymans

Fri, 21 May 2010 15:10

Toulouse have revealed their star laden starting XV for their showdown with Biarritz in the Heineken Cup final in Paris on Saturday.

The unbelievable strength and depth of Toulouse's backline was evident as experienced international wing-cum-fullback Cédric Heymans has been relegated to the bench for the match, as another French international star Maxime Medard is preferred on the left wing. Medard forms a formidable back trio that also includes two more French internationals in Clément Poitrenaud and Vincent Clerc.

The versatile Jean-Baptiste Elissalde is included on the bench and will hope to pass a late fitness test, following the groin injury that forced him out of Toulouse's Top 14 semifinal last weekend.

The match will be Toulouse's sixth appearance in the Heineken Cup final and they will seek an unprecedented fourth title.

Toulouse: 15 Clément Poitrenaud, 14 Vincent Clerc, 13 Florian Fritz, 12 Yannick Jauzion, 11 Maxime Medard, 10 David Skrela, 9 Byron Kelleher, 8 Shaun Sowerby, 7 Thierry Dusautoir (captain), 6 Jean Bouilhou, 5 Patricio Albacete, 4 Romain Millo-Chluski, 3 Benoit Lecouls, 2 William Servat, 1 Jean-Baptiste Poux.
Replacements: 16 Alberto Vernet Basualdo, 17 Daan Human, 18 Census Johnston, 19 Yoann Maestri, 20 Louis Picamoles , 21 Jean-Baptiste Elissalde, 22 Yann David , 23 Cédric Heymans,
