SA's promising youngsters on Safari

The SA Emerging Sevens team will be aiming to reclaim the famous Kenyan Sevens Safari title when the popular event is staged in Nairobi from June 4 to 6.
The South African youngsters won the title three years ago, but had to play second fiddle to the host team the past two years.
A squad of 12 players will assemble in Stellenbosch on Monday, where they will attend a brief training camp under the watchful eye of coach, Arthur Janson before flying out to Kenya next Thursday.
Several current Springbok Sevens stalwarts such as Mzwandile Stick, Frankie Horne, Vuyo Zangqa, Norman Nelson and more recently, Cecil Afrika, came through the Emerging ranks on their way to the IRB Sevens World Series.
Zimbabwe and Kenya will be fielding their full IRB Sevens Series squads, while the likes of Fiji, Samoa and Argentina will also send strong representative teams.
"The tournament is known for producing top-quality Sevens and we are looking forward to test our next generation of youngsters against some very experienced teams. We had two good training camps in Stellenbosch and I am satisfied with our preparations thus far," said Janson.
Sixteen teams will battle it out for one of Africa's most prized Sevens titles.
SA Emerging team: Jacquin Jansen (Boland), Marlon Lewis, Siyanda Grey (Eastern Province), Bernado Botha, Earl Lewis (Golden Lions), Brian Shabangu (KwaZulu-Natal), Deon Scholtz, Jacobus Swanepoel (Leopards), Siviwe Magaba (Pumas), Jacques Engelbrecht (SWD Eagles), Johann Sadie, Jacobus Schabort (Western Province).
