International centre Ben Cairns has been called up to the Scotland for the final leg of the IRB Sevens World Series, at Murrayfield in Edinburgh this weekend - May 29 and 30.
Cairns' addition comes as captain Scott Forrest has had to withdraw due to an Achilles injury.
On arriving at the team hotel in Edinburgh's Grassmarket area, Cairns said: "The call came as a bit of a shock but I think it will soon sink in during training.
"It's good to be back, I think it's been three years since I last played in an IRB Sevens tournament, which was actually here in Edinburgh, so I'm delighted to be involved.
"I've had a few weeks off since I last played so I feel pretty good. It's obviously disappointing for the team to lose their captain but I'm just looking to make an impact and bring my experience from playing sevens and XVs to the benefit of the team."
Scotland coach Stephen Gemmell added: "It's unfortunate to lose someone like Scott but in Ben we're bringing in an international centre.
"He's been involved before and is keen to play. He will strengthen the squad as we seek to improve on the disappointment of last weekend."
