Kiwi squad changes for Edinburgh

Mon, 26 May 2008 09:28

Injuries to Auckland's Edwin Cocker and Tafai Ioasa of Hawke's Bay have forced changes to the New Zealand squad for the final leg of the International Rugby Board (IRB) Sevens World Series, in Edinburgh this coming weekend.

Cocker suffered a hamstring injury and Ioasa injured his ankle during the London leg of the IRB Series this past weekend.

Waikato's Tim Mikkelson has been called up as replacement and Auckland's David Smith has also joined the squad as replacement for Zar Lawrence, who is returning home to concentrate on the 15-a-side game.

New Zealand clinched a record eighth IRB Sevens Series title in London and go into the Edinburgh tournament leading with 134 points from South Africa (98), Fiji (90) and Samoa (88).

New Zealand squad: Tomasi Cama (Manawatu), Israel Dagg (Hawke's Bay), DJ Forbes (Counties Manukau, captain), Nigel Hunt (Bay of Plenty), Solomon King (Bay of Plenty), Kendrick Lynn (Southland), Tim Mikkelson (Waikato), Ben Nowell (Canterbury), Lote Raikabula (Manawatu), David Smith (Auckland), Nafi Tuitavake (North Harbour), Chad Tuoro (Counties Manukau).
