Warriors set for French warm-up

Tue, 29 Jul 2008 20:03

Glasgow Warriors will get a pre-season run in the XV Challenge Vaquerin, a memorial tournament in the south of France which will see the Scottish club take on the best from the Top 14.

The tournament is in memory of France and Beziers prop, Armand Vaquerin, who won 27 caps for his country over a ten year period, lifting nine league titles with Beziers in the process.

Warriors fly out to Millau on Thursday in preparation for their opening encounter with Castres on Saturday, August 2. Kick-off is at 19.00 (17.00 GMT).

The tournament will conclude on Sunday August 9 in Camarès with Glasgow taking on Beziers. Kick-off will be at 16.00 (14.00 GMT)

Also competing in the tournament will be USAP, Perpignan, MHRC, Montpellier, Mont de Marsan, Sale Sharks, Albi and Narbonne.

The memorial tournament will also be subject to the new experimental law variations (ELVs) which are being implemented in the Northern Hemisphere from August 1, and will thus prove very useful in gaining some pre-season experience.

Warriors will also play two pre-season fixtures against Bristol at Firhill on August 15 and away to Gloucester the following week.

He obviously knows the Bible well
He is just deflecting attention away from his lack of coaching knowledge
