Connacht captain John Muldoon is looking forward to making a strong start to the 2008/09 Magners League season, when his side take on the Ospreys at the Sportsground on Friday evening.
The Portumna man will lead the side into competitive battle for the first time since being named skipper.
"Pre-season has gone well but we now need to take that into competitive action," Muldoon told connachtrugby.ie.
"Everyone is dying for the Magners League to get under way and we are hopeful that we can make a good start," he said.
Muldoon appealed to Connacht supporters to come out in force and get behind the Irish side.
"It's worth an extra few points when you have a big crowd behind you.
"Connacht support is growing all the time and hopefully we can give them something to shout about on Friday," he added.
Connacht, who will be without new wing Mike Roberts who is out with a calf injury, will announce their squad midweek.
