Munster eyeing top-table 'sabbatical'

Thu, 02 Oct 2008 13:44

Munster coach Tony McGahan continues to ring the changes, with no less than six adjustments to player personnel for their Magners League fixture against Glasgow Warriors in Limerick on Saturday.

Back into the squad come Tony Buckley and Mick O'Driscoll and Kieran Lewis, Anthony Horgan, Denis Fogarty and Niall Ronan - all of whom played a prominent role in the Munster 'A' victory over Leinster.

A win for Munster (18 points) could see them claim the top spot on the League table as they currently sit just one log-point behind the Ospreys.

A leading finish would leave the hosts in a comfortable predicament, with a significant three-week Magners break scheduled as the Celts switch their focus to respective EDF Energy and Heineken Cup opening round fixtures.

Munster squad:

Forwards: M Horan, F Sheahan, D Fogarty, J Hayes, T Buckley, M O'Driscoll, P O'Connell, D O'Callaghan, A Quinlan, N Ronan, J Melck, D Wallace.

Backs: P Stringer, T O'Leary, P Warwick, R O'Gara, A Horgan, K Lewis, K Earls, D Howlett, R Tipoki, B Murphy.

Date: Saturday, October 4
Venue: Thomond Park, Limerick
Kick-off: 19.00 (18.00 GMT)
Referee: Andrew Small (England)
Touch judges: David Keane (Ireland), Richard Kerr (Ireland)
TMO: Brian Fitzgerald (Ireland)
