We need perfection says Robbo

Edinburgh boss Andy Robinson has warned his team that they can ill-afford to continue making simple errors – despite the fact that they overcame Connacht 27-14 in Saturday’s Magners League encounter at The Sportsground.

A strong first half performance from the visiting side saw them cruise to a 27-0 lead, with tries from Scottish international trio Simon Webster, Chris Paterson and Mike Blair.

The second half though was a more difficult affair, with the home side pouncing on two Edinburgh errors to make the final score a more respectable 14-27.

With a mixed start to the season meaning Robinson’s men sit in sixth place in the League, with just two wins from their opening six games, and their coach is eager for them to start producing complete performances.

"It has been a tough time. All the errors we’ve made so far this season we’ve been punished for. Even against Connacht, we made two errors and they scored two tries as a result.

"That is what has happened throughout the whole season and that is something that we need to be aware of.

"But overall I thought we played well with the wind and that we took the tries well.

"In the second half, we had to keep playing and it was tough playing into the wind.

"We created two or three chances, but we didn’t take them. Connacht made it a tough final 15 minutes, but I thought we controlled the game.

"It just seemed that any error we made was punished and we weren’t able to get the field position to score the try that we needed.

"We got over the line two or three times, but we just got held up. Credit to Connacht – they defended really well."
