The Western Mail has reported that a number of clubs around Europe, including Leicester, Saracens, Toulouse and Stade Français are monitoring Ospreys scrumhalf Mike Phllips's current contract talks withthe hope of luring him away from the Ospreys.
Phillips has reportedly opened up new contract discussions with the Ospreys. The powerful No.9s contract with the Magners League side does not expire until the end of next season but, with Phillips's reputation in the game continuing to grow, the Welsh region are eager for him to commit to the team sooner rather than later.
Having fought off the interest of both Munster and Leinster for their prize wing Tommy Bowe, and rejected a big-money offer for flyhalf James Hook, the Ospreys are clearly committed to holding on to as many of their big stars as they possibly can.
Of course Phillips is not new to big contract talks. The former Scarlets player signed for the Blues in a big money deal before then leaving Cardiff for the Liberty Stadium in controversial circumstances.
