Cleaning up: Sale scrumhalf Dwayne Peel
After much speculation and debate, the Sale Sharks have finally confirmed that in-demand Wales scrumhalf Dwayne Peel has signed a new two-year deal with the Guinness Premiership club.
Pee, now 28 years old, had been linked with a possible return to Wales, with the Scarlets, as well as a number of other big clubs across Europe.
Having joined Sale in 2008 from Llanelli the livewire No.9 has become a key figure in the Sharks side and made a big impression in the Guinness Premiership and Heineken Cup.
Speaking about the deal Sale's Director of Rugby Kingsley Jones said: :I am really pleased that Dwayne has committed to a new deal.
"He could have had his pick of other clubs to join but has committed himself to Sale Sharks and he will play a very important role with the club. He is a complete professional both on and off the field and is a very well respected member of the squad."
Peel himself said: : "I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Sale Sharks and have been made to feel very welcome from day one.
"We have a good set of players at the club and I am looking forward to helping them achieve success in the next two years."
Peel's decision to stay in England could well hamper his international ambitions though. Wales boss Warren Gatland has made no secret of his desire to have all the countries top players plying their trade at one of the countries four regions.
"I still have ambitions to play for Wales too and hope to put myself into contention for a call up before the end of the Six Nations," said Peel.
