Galway draw

Sat, 06 Mar 2010 00:21

Connacht and Glasgow Warriors drew 19-all at the Sportsground in Galway on Friday night. This is a good result for Connacht in that they have been faring poorly of late while the Warriors are second on the Magners League table.

The Glasgow side led just 6-3 at the break but the second half was far freer with three tries.

Glasgow led for much of the match and then as the clock reached the final whistle they found themselves 19-14 down but flank James Eddie scored the try that tied the match and kept Glasgow as serious contenders for the play-offs.At one stage the Warriors were leading 14-3. Ruaridh Jackson had kicked three penalties for a 9-3 lead at the break and then Canada's international wing, DHT van der Merwe had scored a try. Then Connacht fought back.

Ian Keatley kicked two penalty goals and Gavin Duffy scored a great individual try to give the home side the lead at 16-14. Then Keatley goaled again. 19-14.

Glasgow then came desperately back with wave after wave off attack till in injury time Eddie went over in the corner.
