Ulster await imminent Pienaar arrival

Ulster are patiently waiting for the arrival of the fifth South African on their books, Ruan Pienaar, to fill in the last piece of their jigsaw.

Pienaar's Tri-Nations campaign with the Springboks came to a grinding halt, when the scrumhalf injured his Ac joint while playing for the Sharks in the Currie Cup.

South Africans BJ Botha and Robbie Diack have already been joined by countrymen Pedrie Wannenburg and Johann Muller, who have made a massive impact since arriving for the pre-season.

All of Ulster's South African recruits have been a success in Belfast and have won the praise of fans and players alike, and as a world class scrumhalf, Pienaar, should have no trouble fitting into the side.

"Bringing quality like that [the new Springbok trio] in really lifts the boys around them. It gives them an extra gear, an extra level of performance, that you didn’t think you had, to keep up with these guys," Ulster captain Rory Best told the Belfast Telegraph.

"They bring a calm edge. Johann [Muller] especially, just the way he runs the game, sees everything and knows everything is great.

"While Pedrie [Wannenburg] is so aggressive. He just loves to carry and loves to tackle."

With all the Springbok talent flocking to Belfast, soon there will be more South Africans than Irishmen at Ulster!
