Munster have a Cheetah in the front row

Thu, 02 Sep 2010 18:04

Pillar of strength: Munster prop Wian du Preez.

Munster coach Tony McGahan has made four changes from the last pre-season match for their Magners League opener against Aironi at Musgrave Park on Saturday.

Former Free State Cheetahs prop Wian du Preez will start at loosehead for the Irish province in their opening Magners League match.

All the changes to the starting line-up are confined to the forward pack and in particular to the back five with Mick O'Driscoll partrnering Billy Holland in the second row which means a switch to blindside flank for Donnacha Ryan at the expense of Alan Quinlan - who's named on the bench - and Niall Ronan, a 45th minute replacement last weekend for Tommy O'Donnell, retained at openside.

Included among the replacements for the first time are Irish internationals John Hayes and Marcus Horan. Denis Leamy captains the side as he has done for the opening two games.

Munster: 15 Felix Jones, 14 Doug Howlett, 13 Sam Tuitupou, 12 Johne Murphy, 11 Ian Dowling; 10 Paul Warwick, 9 Peter Stringer, 8 Denis Leamy (captain), 7 Niall Ronan, 6 Donnacha Ryan, 5 Billy Holland, 4 Mick O'Driscoll, 3 Tony Buckley, 2 Damien Varley, 1 Wian du Preez.
Replacements: 16 Denis Fogarty, 17 Marcus Horan, 18 John Hayes, 19 Alan Quinlan, 20 Peter O'Mahony, 21 Duncan Williams, 22 Scott Deasy, 23 Danny Barnes.
