Dragons prop Adam Black will become the first player in the history of Celtic League (Magners League) rugby to reach 100 appearances when the Dragons clash with Ospreys at the Liberty Stadium on Friday.
The 32-year-old front row forward from Hornchurch in England joined Ebbw Vale in 2001 and is currently enjoying his fifth season with the Newport Gwent Dragons. In 2007, Black became the first player to gain 100 caps for the Newport Gwent Dragons.
"This is a huge honour for me, my family and everyone at the Dragons who have supported me throughout my time in Wales," said the proud prop.
"My desire to continue playing for the Dragons is huge, as it was five years ago when I arrived under the leadership of Mike Ruddock.
"I've experienced highs and lows here in front of our loyal fans and I'm looking forward to more highs with the region as it moves into a new era. I'm sure that we can create something special at Rodney Parade in the foreseeable future," added Black.
Dragons Head Coach Paul Turner - who signed Adam at Bedford from London Wasps in 1999 - was full of praise for the loosehead prop.
"It's a great achievement for Adam [Black] and for the Dragons," said Turner.
"Adam is a player who has progressed, as the league has evolved, and has been one of the cornerstones of Dragons activity over the past five years," added the coach.
Richard Barnes, Brand Manager Wm. Magner was also full of praise for Black's achievement.
"I would like to congratulate Adam on this milestone," said Barnes.
"As a front row forward this achievement is particularly commendable and is a real testament to Adam's professionalism and dedication to the Dragons' cause.
"I would like to wish Adam and the rest of the Dragons the best of luck for their remaining Magners League fixtures this season," Barnes went on to say.
