"I enjoy the English style of rugby, I love my ball-carrying and putting on big hits, and it is all about being a physical presence,

"Newcastle have had a lot of the bigger names in rugby here, they are a well-known presence at the top level and I want to be a part of that," Orr stated.

The former Under-20 Australian explain the route which has lead him to Newcastle Falcons.

"I played for Australia U20 but through my British-born dad, who moved to Australia when he was two or three, I was able to qualify for a passport. I have spent the past season playing for Ealing in the Championship, I really enjoy it over here and can't wait now to push on with Newcastle,

"The Falcons' synthetic pitch is nothing new for me because we have a very similar surface down at Ealing. It allows you to play at quite a quick pace, I enjoy that side of things and hopefully I can make a contribution," he added.

Falcons director of rugby Dean Richards was similarly enthusiastic about the move.

Richards stated: "Harrison is a strong ball-carrier and a good line-out forward who can play at lock, blind-side flanker or No 8. We look forward to his arrival and the contribution he can make here."
