Evans was born in Hastings New Zealand and played Super Rugby for The Blues and The Hurricanes before heading to the Northern Hemisphere.

His performances during last season made him one of the leading locks in Premiership Rugby and his line out skills including ball stealing made him one of the stand out players in the competition.

Director of Rugby Steve Diamond said: "[Evans] was outstanding during his first season and was a model of consistency for us, just missing one game.

"[Evans] was also a very worthy winner of the Players Player of the Season Award. He is highly respected within the squad and is just the type of player we need to help us achieve our ambitions at Sale Sharks,"
