Robinson guided Bristol back to the Premiership last season and has built a squad intent of establishing the club back in the top flight.

"It's a great honour for me to be Director of Rugby at Bristol. I've thoroughly enjoyed my time here since arriving in 2013," Robinson told bristolrugby.co.uk.

"We knew there was a significant challenge ahead of us to take the team back to a level where we aspired to be, but I believe we are moving in the right direction.

"With premiership rugby on the horizon, it's a great time to be involved and to guide this squad of talented players into a new chapter for Bristol.

"We have built a strong culture and unity throughout the club – that 'One Team' mentality will help drive our performances on and off the field.

"We are focused on earning the respect of the premiership with our performances and the attitude we show next season.

"There is a lot of hard work still to be done, but with the new stadium in place and the resources and facilities now available to Bristol, I believe we can continue to progress.

"The supporters have been fantastic to me, my coaching team and the players. Their influence is an inspiration for everybody involved in the club to keep pushing forward.

"I have a close relationship with Chris [Booy] and the board and we will continue to work hard to ensure that we achieve our goals."

Chairman Chris Booy added: "On behalf of Bristol, I’m delighted that Andy [Robinson] has committed his immediate future to the club.

"We have worked hard to build a strong backroom staff, playing group and environment and this stability will help us to secure our place in the top flight.

"Our ambition is to be a top four premiership club and to compete in Europe and we believe Andy – in his role as Director of Rugby – can help us achieve that."
