Morgan pens new Gloucester deal

Morgan is now in his fifth season with Gloucester and has been a key performer in the back row of the club that he grew up supporting.

He arrived at Kingsholm from Scarlets in 2012, and has gone on to make 76 appearances in the Cherry and White hoops to date as well as being capped 31 times by England.

Named as England's Man of the Series in the 2014 internationals, he then suffered a serious leg injury on club duty . But his personal drive and commitment was demonstrated by his dedicated rehabilitation and he returned to represent his country at Rugby World Cup 2015.

Morgan has started all eight of Gloucester's Premiership encounters so far this season, and has also spent time training with England at Pennyhill Park in recent weeks as they prepare for the November Series.

Director of Rugby David Humphreys is thrilled that the influential and powerful back row has put pen to paper on a new deal.

"Ben [Morgan] expressed his desire to stay at the club, and we're thrilled that we were able to agree a new deal which will hopefully see him continue to develop even further in a Gloucester shirt.

"We feel that the back row is an area of strength for us, and with the addition of Carl Fearns for next season, Ben [Morgan] will be a key part of that unit bringing real leadership skills to the group,"

Morgan spoke to the club website about the easy decision to remain a Cherry and White.

"It's great to be part of this club, and it's my local club that means a lot to me. I'm absolutely over the moon to sign a new deal.

"I grew up supporting Gloucester, and it is a special place to play. It helps to have that desire and passion for the club, and the feel of the community at this club is a big thing for me, and a big part of my decision to continue at the club,"
