Tovey out for eight weeks
INJURY UPDATE: Edinburgh Rugby flyhalf Jason Tovey will miss the first eight weeks of the Pro12 season due to a wrist injury.
The Welsh playmaker sustained the injury during training last week. A scan at Spire Murrayfield Hospital revealed a small fracture, however at this stage it is thought that surgery will not be required.
The 27-year-old signed a two-year deal in May with Edinburgh.
Tovey will remain in the care of the club's medical team for ongoing rehabilitation and assessment.
Edinburgh open their Pro12 campaign away to Cardiff Blues on Saturday.
Tovey is likely to miss at least Edinburgh's opening six Pro12 matches as well as the first two rounds of European Challenge Cup fixtures in October.
In his absence, new arrival and Scotland international Duncan Weir is set to start the campaign in the flyhalf jersey.
