Scarlets reap the rewards
Jones has featured in all of Scarlets' fixtures in the 2016/17 campaign thus far ahead of the Anglo-Welsh Cup block.
In 12 games Jones had made 10 starts with two appearances from the bench, in the pre-season friendly against Exeter Chiefs and the Pro12 season opener against Munster at Parc y Scarlets.
The 24-year-old has seized an opportunity afforded to him through injuries to Rob Evans and Dylan Evans and is looking forward to continuing where the Scarlets left off in the Pro12 with a win over Glasgow Warriors a few weeks ago.
With Scarlets welcoming table-toppers Leinster to Parc y Scarlets Jones is acutely aware of the challenge that lies ahead but believes that the region's recent form in the championship, and five victories on the bounce, is showing that the hard work on the training paddock is paying off.
Looking ahead to the Leinster challenge Llandovery born Jones said; "We've looked at the whole team. They're top of the table but we've got good momentum recently.
"We've won last five games, a win against Leinster would put us in the mix for the top four – that's definitely what we're aiming for.
"There aren't many points separating the top eight in the championship table at the moment. One win against Leinster could put us in the top four; it's a huge game for us. We want to keep the winning momentum going and the next two games are key for us.”
As a key member of the Scarlets pack Jones believes the forwards are now showing the fruits of their labour. He said; "The set piece is something we've worked on a lot. The last few games showed that we're going in the right direction and showed that the hard work is paying off. Hopefully we'll keep that going in to the Leinster game,"
