NEWS: Scrumhalf Francois Hougaard will miss the Springboks' first two matches in this year's Rugby Championship because of a knee niggle.

Hougaard returned from the 2016 Rio Olympics with the niggle. He is currently undergoing rehabilitation with a view to return to fitness and participate at a later date in the Rugby Championship.

Meanwhile, Lwazi Mvovo and Sikhumbuzo Notshe were released from the Springbok squad and have returned to their home provinces on Tuesday afternoon.

They remain part of the overall Bok squad but will not feature in the Rugby Championship opener on Saturday against Argentina.

Prop Trevor Nyakane is making very good progress with his ankle recovery and there is a good chance he will be considered for the 26-man Bok touring squad to Argentina.
