Redelinghuys blow for Boks

Sun, 21 Aug 2016 11:23

INJURY UPDATE: Springbok prop Julian Redelinghuys will not travel with the 27-man squad to Argentina this coming week.

The front row forward was on Sunday ruled out of action for up to six weeks with a hamstring injury.

He suffered the injury in the come-from-behind 30-23 win over the Pumas in Nelspruit at the weekend.

Redelinghuys will continue his rehabilitation at the Lions.

"Losing Julian is a massive blow to us because it comes at a time when he is playing really good rugby," Springbok coach Allister Coetzee said.

"Vincent Koch did extremely well when he came on a replacement and Julian's injury now presents him with an ideal opportunity."

Prop Lourens Adriaanse, who joined the squad last week, is included in the tour squad along with Trevor Nyakane, Malcolm Marx, Franco Mostert and Morné Steyn.

Meanwhile, scrumhalf Francois Hougaard will continue with his knee treatment and will not travel to Argentina when the squad leaves on Monday from Johannesburg.

South African squad: Lourens Adriaanse, Ruan Combrinck, Damian de Allende, Lodewyk de Jager, Juan de Jongh, Francois de Klerk, Pieter-Steph du Toit, Eben Etzebeth, Johan Goosen, Bryan Habana, Elton Jantjies, Steven Kitshoff, Vincent Koch, Jaco Kriel, Jesse Kriel, Francois Louw, Lionel Mapoe, Malcolm Marx, Bongi Mbonambi, Teboho Mohoje, Franco Mostert, Tendai Mtawarira, Trevor Nyakane, Rudy Paige, Morné Steyn, Adriaan Strauss, Warren Whiteley.
