Boks braced for Puma backlash
INTERVIEW: Springbok captain Adriaan Strauss said he and his teammates are bracing themselves for a fired up Argentinian team in Salta on Saturday.
The Springboks came from behind in the dying moments of their Rugby Championship Round One clash at the Mbombela Stadium to beat the Pumas 30-23 last weekend.
The Pumas were impressive throughout that game and gave the Boks plenty of problems at the breakdowns and in the collisions.
Despite their spirited performance in Nelspruit, losing in that matter would have left the Pumas frustrated and Strauss knows this.
"It is a massive Test match away from home for us," said Strauss.
"We know that they are a passionate nation and we are expecting a backlash as well."
He added: The Argentinians have been semifinalists at World Cups on a few occasions, so they are a rugby force and they are not a building nation any more."
In terms of preparation, Strauss said he is happy with the amount of work he and his teammates put in during the week.
"We travelled quite well and we have had a great week of preparation.
"We had good training sessions on the field. We sorted out some details in the video and technical sessions as well.
"I feel we are well-prepared. I am very excited about the weekend and to be honest, we just need to be better in everything we do and lift the standards even more."
