Kiwis name two rookies for home town tourney
TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT: There are two new caps in the New Zealand team for Wellington leg of the Sevens World Series.
Tone Ng Shiu and Vilimoni Koroi have been selected in the side for the first time.
At the same time, DJ Forbes will make a record-breaking 82nd Sevens World Series appearance and his 11th in Wellington.
All Blacks Sevens captain Scott Curry said he is looking for the home advantage to give his side a welcome boost on Saturday and Sunday.
With a lack of time for preparation ahead of the first two rounds of the series in Dubai and Cape Town, the New Zealanders have had more time together in preparation for the Wellington tournament.
"We've had some pretty good wins here and won the last three in a row, so we're hoping for a fourth," he told worldrugby.org.
"Obviously it's a bit of an interesting time for us, with a changing of the guard in terms of the coaching and a bit of a fresh start for us as a team. We're learning plenty of new stuff so hopefully, we can improve on what we've done so far," he said.
New Zealand's Pool C includes the United States, France and Samoa, the side now coached by former New Zealand coach Gordon Tietjens.
New Zealand: Scott Curry (captain), Dylan Collier, DJ Forbes, Iopu Iopu-Aso, Rocky Khan, Vilimoni Koroi, Tim Mikkelson, Sione Molia, Tone Ng Shiu, Sherwin Stowers, Isaac Te Tamaki, Regan Ware.
