After being down 5-17 down at half-time, the Fijians fought back with some of the best tries the Sevens circuit has seen this season.

Australia finished third with a narrow win over hosts New Zealand.

Cup Final:

Fiji 24-17 South Africa

The BlitzBoks started well with Albertus Smith powering over for a score. However, their lead did not last long with Fiji hitting back with a try almost straight after.

It was the South Africans who finished the first half stronger with Kyle Brown and Branco du Preez scoring tries to give the BlitzBoks a 17-5 lead at half-time.

James Stannard slotted a penalty at the death to give Australia a thrilling 8-7 win over New Zealand and third place at the Hamilton Sevens.

In a tight game, it was New Zealand who had a 7-0 lead at half-time.

However, Australia hit back immediately after the break, but a failed conversion meant they will still two points behind.

With the clock winding down Australia went on one last attack before they awarded a penalty in front of New Zealand's polls.

Fifth place play-off:

Samoa 19-15 Kenya

Samoa were in fine form in the first half of their match against Kenya.

The Samoans raced to a 19-0 lead before Kenya got a try just before half-time to give them a glimmer of hope in the game.

Kenya were the only team to score in the second half. They ran in two tries, but it was not enough in the end with Samoa winning 19-15.

Challenge trophy Final:

Argentina 12-31 USA

The USA raced to a 10-0 lead before Argentina got a score before the break to reduce the deficit to five points.

The USA dominated the second half scoring another three converted tries to secure a 31-12 win.

Thirteenth place play-off:

Wales 17-19 France

Wales took a narrow 10-7 lead into the second half after they scored two tries to just the one from France in the first half.

Wales extended their lead to 10 points with a third score in the opening stages of the second half before France staged a fight back.

France scored two tries in the final few minutes of the game to eventually win 19-17.
