Parisse in fitness race

Parisse won his 122nd cap at Stadio Olimpico and is hoping to add another one this weekend in the Italian capital when Ireland visit. The 33-year-old was injured in the second half against Wales.

"Parisse underwent an MRI scan after trauma to his neck that he reported from the match," Italy team manager Luigi Troiani told epcrugby.com.

"The examination did not show anything special, and already this morning he showed great signs of improvement. We hope to get him back on the pitch [Tuesday] to start to prepare for the match against Ireland."

As well as leading Italy, Parisse is also hoping to captain Stade Francais to another Challenge Cup Final in 2017.

They beat last season's finalists Harlequins in Round Six to clinch the eighth and final spot and face a tough trip to face No.1 seeds the Ospreys.
