Painful memory: Injured England lock Simon Shaw
England will be without two key players - lock Simon Shaw and fullback Delon Armitage - when they face Scotland in a crucial Six Nations match at Murrayfield next Saturday.
In a statement the England medical team confirmed that they are very doubtful for the trip to Edinburgh.
"The results of an MRI scan that took place Thursday confirmed that Simon Shaw has suffered no additional damage to his left shoulder and the injury he sustained against Ireland is confined to the acromioclavicular joint," the statement said.
"He is making good progress with treatment from the London Wasps medical team and will be reassessed by the England medical team this weekend.
"It is unlikely that he will be available to face Scotland in the Six Nations on March 13, but his availability for the game against France on March 20 remains under review.
"Delon Armitage has made good progress this week recovering from a rib cartilage injury under the care of the England medical team. H
"is progress will be reviewed again at the weekend."
Wasps star Shaw, 36, went off with a shoulder injury early on in England's 16-20 defeat last Saturday and was replaced by Leicester lock Louis Deacon.
Northampton fullback Ben Foden joined England's training camp at Pennyhill Park and is a likely replacement for Armitage.
