All over for banned Bergamasco

Italy flank Mauro Bergamasco has been banned for a month after being cited for dangerous play during the Celtic League clash with Ospreys on February 17, and will miss the rest of the 2012 Six Nations.

Bergamasco admitted that he had committed an act of foul play, in that he had struck the Ospreys scrumhalf, in contravention of Law 10.4(a), which resulted in injury to the Ospreys player.

The disciplinary committee accordingly upheld the citing and imposed a suspension of four weeks, having found the offending to have been intentional and having taken into account Bergamasco's conduct at the hearing and his guilty plea.

Bergamasco is free again to play on Wednesday, March 21.
