Lions hammer Falcons in game one
Leading 22-5 at the interval, the Lions' brought on Team Two for the remainder of the encounter but the scoring never stopped as they added a further 40 points in the second half to close out the comfortable win.
Friedle Olivier got the scoring underway within the first few minutes to hand the Falcons a 5-0 lead but the Lions hit back through captain Warren Whiteley scoring under the uprights. Marnitz Boshoff converts and the visitors lead 7-5.
Anthony Volmink added the visitors' second of the day with a long-distance try to hand the Lions a 12-5 lead as Boshoff missed his first conversion of the match. Boschoff made up for the miss a few moments later when he scored in the corner after some magic by centre Jacques Nel.
The flyhalf missed the conversion though but the lead remained comfortable at 17-5. Ross Cronje got his name on the scorecard when he too dotted down in the corner to stretch the lead to 22-5 before Team Two took to the field.
Jacques van Rooyen scored an impressive maul try to stretch the visitors' lead to 27-5 but the Falcons hit back with a try of their own through Kyle Hendriks. Van Rooyen soon grabbed a brace and a successful Elton Jantjies conversion took the score to 34-12 in the Lions' favour.
Ruan Combrink and Andries Ferreira grabbed tries of their own to take the score to 48-12 before the Lions ran in a further two converted tries to seal the emphatic victory.
