Brumbies pleased with second-half showing

The Canberra side outscored their opponents six tries to three to win 43-24, but it was in the second 40 where they really put their foot on the gas to knock over the Queenslanders.

"We got off to a slow start," Lealiifano said.

"It was nice to go away at half-time and re-group, come out at second half and put on a better performance."

He added: "We probably went out of shape a bit, to our structures that we're really good at, and to just play in the right area of the field and we needed to kick better.

"We put them under a little bit of pressure, which I felt we'd done in patches of the second half."

Centre Matt Toomua echoed Lealiifano's sentiments.

"I thought the first half was a bit stop start, a few errors in there and we probably weren't attacking as much as we should," Toomua said in his first match back for the Brumbies since injuring his knee against the Highlanders.

"Towards the end of the first half when we scored that try we really stated to pick up the pace."

Toomua said his team's scrappy performance in the first half might have been due to the low temperatures that gripped the city.

"I couldn’t feel my hands in that first half, I think a few guys were like that as well," he said.

"Hands and feet were quite numb so we've got to figure out a way to sort that out because it's only going to get colder."
