Lambie still not available

Sharks Director of Rugby Gary Gold confirmed on Tuesday that Lambie still has concussion-related symptoms, which stemmed from his sickening clash with Ireland's South African-born flank Christiaan Stander in the first Test in Cape Town on 11 June.

"There is no change in that there are still slight symptoms, but he is definitely a lot better," said Gold.

"I think he is starting to do some exercises now and if there are no symptoms after that then hopefully he can get back sooner rather than later.

"There is definitely signs of improvement."

Gold said he will be resting a few of his star players this week including stand-in captain Tendai Mtawarira.

"We will give Beast a rest this week – he played every Test match [against Ireland] and we are very confident in players like Thomas [du Toit] and Dale [Chadwick]," said Gold.

"We talk about balance, but you want to perform well – you also don't necessarily want a whole new-look team where you feel you have to start from scratch again.

"You also have to plan and prepare for the fact that you may have a couple of guys like Jean Deysel who needs game time before the quarterfiinals. Hopefully it is not going to be too disruptive."

Meanwhile, Gold is confident that both Willie le Roux and Paul Jordaan will be fit for the play-offs should they qualify.

The Sharks just need a win against the Sunwolves to book their place in quarterfinals.

Le Roux is recovering from a shoulder injury, while Jordaan might be an option for this weekend's game as his recovery from a knee injury is going well.
