The Sydney-based franchise confirmed their departure and they have joined the likes of Kurtley Beale, Wycliff Palu and Dave Dennis, who are all heading overseas, and Benn Robinson who has retired.

Tilse made the first of his 64 Tahs appearances back in 2006, with all but a handful of his 60 Super caps earned off the bench.

Wing and centre Carraro accumulated 51 Super caps for Waratahs across five seasons in two separate spells with the franchise in 2008-09 and 2014-16.

Waratahs head coach, Daryl Gibson thanked the departing players for their services and contributions.

"Matt and Jeremy have been outstanding role models for our young players," Gibson said.

"They are true ambassadors for the game and their leadership and commitment to Waratahs is to be commended.

"Whilst it is a sad time, we celebrate their achievements and value everything they have given to the team.

Gibson also acknowledged that this provides the younger generation of players with an opportunity to build a new era.

"This is a great opportunity for the Waratahs’ next generation to begin a new era and build on the legacy that so many of our players have contributed to," he continued.

"It's also a chance for our young leadership group to stamp their mark and provide a new energy as part of the talented and determined group of young players that we have into 2017 and beyond."
