Lions name new front row for Jaguares
TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT: The Lions will field an entirely new front row when they take on the Jaguares in a Super Rugby Round Nine match at Ellis Park on Friday.
Coach Johan Ackermann has made four changes to the side that demolished the Stormers at Newlands last week.
However, the most significant changes are in the front row.
Corné Fourie, Armand van der Merwe and Johannes Jonker will start this week, with last week's starting front row - Malcolm Marx, Jacques van Rooyen and Ruan Dreyer playing off the bench.
The only backline change is injury enforced.
Harold Vorster will partner with Lionel Mapoe in midfield, coming in in the place of the injured Rohan Janse van Rensburg.
Janse van Rensburg may face a lengthy injury lay-off.
The Lions' medical staff confirmed that the burly midfielder has a lateral collateral ligament tear and posterolateral corner injury.
He suffered the injuries in the fifth minute of his team's 29-16 win over the Stormers at Newlands last week.
He'll be assessed by a knee specialist this week, who will decide on the course of treatment.
Fullback Andries Coetzee has past his return to play protocol, after suffering a nasty head knock when Stormers loose forward Nizaam Carr smashed into him with a pointed shoulder at Newlands.
Coetzee will run out in his 50th Super Rugby game for the Lions.
