Deysel steps in for Esterhuizen
SQUAD ANNOUNCEMENT: Sharks head coach Robert du Preez has named a 25-man touring squad, who will depart for Argentina on Tuesday ahead of their return fixture against the Jaguares in Buenos Aires.
The Sharks will be without centre Andre Esterhuizen, due to suspension, and an injured Jacobus van Wyk, who was a very late withdrawal from this past Saturday’s match against the Melbourne Rebels.
With Esterhuizen unavailable, Du Preez has included Namibian centre Johan Deysel in his squad. Esterhuizen has been suspended for six weeks for dangerous play in his team's 9-all draw with Rebels.
Other players not considered for selection include Garth April, Inny-Christian Radebe, Keegan Daniel and Patrick Lambie.
"Our performance [against the Rebels] was sub-standard and absolutely unacceptable," Du Preez.
"We owe everyone associated with our team a more credible showing against the Jaguares. We will work hard this week on the areas that let us down, with discipline and execution being key."
Forwards: Mahlatse Ralepelle, Coenie Oosthuizen, Daniel du Preez, Etienne Oosthuizen, Franco Marais, Jean-Luc du Preez, John-Hubert Meyer, Lourens Adriaanse, Philip van der Walt, Ruan Botha, Stephan Lewis, Tendai Mtawarira, Lubabalo Mtembu, Thomas du Toit.
Backs: Benhard Janse van Rensburg, Cobus Reinach, Curwin Bosch, Jeremy Ward, Johan Deysel, Lukhanyo Am, Lwazi Mvovo, Michael Claasens, Odwa Ndungane, Rhyno Smith, Sbu Nkosi.
